“The Diary of Anne Frank” by the Star Dramatic Company

“It’s the silence that frightens me the most.  Every time I hear a creak in the house, a step on the street, I’m sure they are coming for us”.  Words from the diary of a young Anne Frank during World War II as she and her family hide fro the Nazi regime.  “The Diary of Anne Frank” will be brought to the stage by the Star Dramatic Company under the direction of Craig Fowler beginning Nov. 13th.   Performances will be on November 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, and 22.  Friday and Saturday shows are at 7PM and the Sunday performances will begin at 2PM.  Ticket prices are $6 for adults and $4 for students with a valid ID.  For more information, call the message line at 573-292-1009.

Mask and Gourd Show

2015Best-of-Show-Sophia-DeLaatStop by the Ferguson Building during business hours to view a wonderful exhibit of masks from the collection of Mr. Gene Weinbeck.  Also, included in this exhibit is gourd art by Sophia Delatt who is the Gourd Artist of the year for 2015 and gourds by another award winner, Lynda Bolts.  You can visit the Show Me Gourd Society website for more information on these artists at www.showmegourdsociety.com.  The arts council is very excited to have these artists display their work!  A reception will be held on Halloween, Saturday, October 31st from 5 to 7PM.

Spooktacula III Concert

The third annual Spooktacula Concert will be held this year on Halloween night, Saturday, October 31st, at the historic Star Theater in Willow Springs.  This delightful musical event has become a tradition and one of the most popular concerts.  The fun Spook IIIstarts at 7PM and tickets will be available at the door. Adult tickets are $5.00 and there will be no charge children under 12.  The theater will be decorated and the orchestra in costumes for this event.  Audience members are encouraged to also attend in costume!

 

Southern Ozarks Community Orchestra Rehearsing for Upcoming Concerts

SOCO is back rehearsing on Tuesday evenings at 7PM at the Ferguson Building.  We are very excited to have Mr. Joe Dias with us as a conductor and we’re working hard on the musical selections for Spooktacula III.  That concert will be on Halloween night at the Star Theater in downtown Willow Springs!  The orchestra will be in costume and the audience is encouraged to also dress in costume.  This is a fun event for all ages.  So, mark your calendars!
